Plants look best next to materials that age the way they do. Terracotta, linen and untreated wood all soften over time, and a fern or a fig tree makes sense beside them in a way it never does beside glossy laminate.
Group plants in odd numbers, vary the heights, and resist the urge to match the pots. A hand-thrown bowl or a turned maple vessel is enough to tie the group together.
